Chess Tournaments are really special. Firstly, they are a fun way to meet new players. In addition, they test your skills against multiple opponents. Finally, the classic Swiss format insures you will have many games against similarly skilled opponents.

November Knights Tournament

Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at 12:30 pm

Who: This chess tournament is free and open to all L.A. Chess Ladder Members. Membership is free and open to anyone, so send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to join if you aren’t a member already.

What/When/Where: This will be a Swiss tournament with 4-6 rounds depending on how many players we have. The time control will be G5 minutes with a 5 second increment. This tournament will feature trophies for 1st place, second place and for other achievements. Chess sets & timers will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. The tournament will be played at the Santa Clarita home of ladder player, Darren Himeles. Address will be given out later. The event will take place on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at 12:30 pm.

Masterpiece Tournament

The LA Chess Ladder heads back to Santa Clarita. This time we are playing at the new Masterpiece Chess Club hosted by ladder member, Tim Abadilla. Send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to sign up. Check back for more great chess tournaments!

Who: This chess tournament is free and open to L.A. Chess Ladder Members only. Membership is free and open to anyone, so send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to join if you aren’t a member already.

What/When/Where: This will be a Swiss tournament with 4-6 rounds depending on how many players we have. The time control will be G5 minutes with a 5 second increment. This tournament will feature trophies for 1st place, second place and for other achievements. In addition, we will use chess tournament software to insure that wait time between rounds is minimized. Chess sets & timers will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. The tournament will be played at Masterpiece Chess Club, located at 22916 Lyons Ave Ste 4B Santa Clarita, CA 91321. L.A. Chess Ladder

Game n’ Grounds III

Sunday, September 10th, 2023, at 1 pm

The LA Chess Ladder heads to Chatsworth, the Game n’ Grounds restaurant and game lounge. Comfortable space, food, drinks, and great fun! All the details of the event are below. Send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to sign up. Check back for more great chess tournaments!

Who: This chess tournament is open to all L.A. Chess Ladder Members. Membership is free and open to anyone, so send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to join if you aren’t a member already.

What/When/Where: This will be a Swiss tournament with 4-6 rounds depending on how many players we have. The time control will be G10 minutes with a 5 second increment. The venue requires a $5 entry fee but this may be used as credit towards food and drinks. This tournament will feature trophies/prizes for 1st place, second place and for other achievements. In addition, we will use chess tournament software to insure that wait time between rounds is minimized. Chess sets & timers will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. The tournament will be played at Game n’ Grounds located at 21727 Devonshire St. Chatsworth, California 91311. The event will take place on Sunday, September 10th, 2023, at 1 pm. The event is hosted by ladder player, Ryan Tanner.

Eureka Tournament

Sunday, March 12th, 2023, at Noon

The LA Chess Ladder heads back to Santa Clarita. All the details of the event are below. Send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to sign up. Check back for more great chess tournaments!

Who: This chess tournament is open to all L.A. Chess Ladder Members who are fully vaccinated to COVID-19. Membership is free and open to anyone, so send an email to lachessladder@yahoo.com to join if you aren’t a member already. I will be asking for entrants to email me a copy of their vaccine card to ensure everyone’s safety.

What/When/Where: This will be a Swiss tournament with 4-6 rounds depending on how many players we have. The time control will be G10 minutes with a 5 second increment. This tournament is free and will feature trophies/prizes for 1st place, second place and for other achievements. In addition, we will use chess tournament software to insure that wait time between rounds is minimized. Chess sets & timers will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. The tournament will be played at the home of ladder player, Darren Himeles. Address to be given out later. The event will take place on Sunday, March 12th, 2023, at Noon.

The venue requires a $5 entry fee but this may be used as credit towards food and drinks. This tournament will feature trophies/prizes for 1st place, second place and for other achievements. In addition, we will use chess tournament software to insure that wait time between rounds is minimized. Chess sets & timers will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish. The tournament will be played at Game n’ Grounds located at 21727 Devonshire St. Chatsworth, California 91311. The event will take place on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 11 am.
